After a full career in the Royal Navy, and subsequent CEO roles in the medical charity sector, Angus now serves on his church’s Pastoral Committee and a member of the Independent Monitoring Board at HMP Winchester. Married to Joanna since 1981, and with two grown-up children, he is keen to ensure young people have the chance to understand what it takes to build and sustain a lasting relationship. Angus joined the board in 2016 and became chairman from June 2018.

Edmund is a recognised authority on the teaching of the Catholic Church on the sacrament of marriage, marriage preparation, John Paul II’s teaching of Theology of the Body and marriage healing. He is Professional Advisor to the Episcopal Vicar for Education and Diocesan Schools Commissioner for Portsmouth. Married with two young children, he also finds time to facilitate Explore sessions from time to time.

Katie Thom

Katie is a deputy head teacher at St. Mary’s Independent co-educational School in Southampton. Katie is involved in all aspects of school life but her focus is on the Teaching and Learning progression at the school. She attends St. Andrew’s Catholic Church with her family and regularly helps with the catechism classes. When not working she enjoys trips to the theatre and she is a passionate reader too. She joined the board in June 2017.

Suzie Simmons

Suzie Simmons

Suzie is Head of Fundraising at Southampton Hospital Charity, having worked there since the Charity’s relaunch in 2008. She has experience of all aspects of fundraising and is passionate about fundraisers being represented at trustee level. Married to Dave she has two small children and understands the importance of long and lasting relationships. She is keen to ensure that young people are equipped with skills and knowledge to help them build these relationships in their own lives. Suzie joined the board in June 2018.

Peter Russell

Peter Russell

Trustee

Peter graduated from Cambridge in Classics and Theology and has always been inspired by the wealth of evidence there is for the events that form the foundation of the Christian faith. He has spent his career in Human Resources, both in the UK and internationally.
Married to Liz for over 40 years, together they have two children and four grandchildren. As a couple, they often participate in Explore’s session in Hampshire schools. Peter became a trustee in October 2018.

Jane Reap

Jane Reap

Treasurer

Jane was appointed as Treasurer for Explore in 2018. She has had a long career in delivering business and IT change within the Financial Services Industry, and is now taking a career break before deciding on her next role. She is a Treasurer trustee for the Heartline Families charity and is a Local Authority School Governor for a primary school in Basingstoke. Jane has been married twice: sadly both marriages ended in divorce. Jane lives in Old Basing with her teenage daughter, two cats, three hens and three ducks. She enjoys playing tennis, gardening and country walks.

We seek to support schools and colleges, usually with Years 10 - 13. Our work is consistent with the guidelines issued by the Department of Education for Relationship Education. We operate within the educational curriculum and syllabus for PSHE, Citizenship and RE in schools.
